What are the Faculty Development Opportunities available at SLCC?

There are many professional development opportunities available to you as a faculty member at SLCC. You will find faculty development opportunities in the Faculty Development Catalog. Reminders of these events will show up in your email on a regular basis. You will also receive professional development emails from Staff Development that may be pertinent to your position as faculty. In addition, your own department may offer opportunities for growth within your field.

In addition to training held throughout the year, watch for these additional yearly faculty events:

  • Convocation—Usually held the day before classes start for fall semester
  • Fall Faculty Conference—fall semester
  • Tanner Forum on Social Ethics—fall semester
  • SLCC 360° —spring semester
  • Faculty Convention—spring semester

As a reminder, adjunct faculty need to get associate dean approval to attend professional development in order to be in compliance with the work hours allowed through the Affordable Care Act.
