Faculty Senate Standing Committees
- Academic Calendar Committee (ACC)
This standing committee shall address all issues and schedules relating to the academic calendar subject to the provisions of section 1 in the Academic Guide for Full-time Faculty Workload and Compensation.
Membership:
- Chairperson from the Senate
Chair will also serve on Faculty Senate Leadership (FSL) - Provost or designee (non-voting)
- Vice President of Institutional Advancement or designee (non-voting)
- Vice President of Student Services or designee (non-voting)
- Vice President of Business Services or designee (non-voting)
- Student Body President or designee
- At least one, and no more than 2, faculty representative(s) selected by each schools.
- One representative from the Faculty Association
- Faculty Professional Development Director or designee
- Chairperson from the Senate
- Adjunct Faculty Impact Committee (AFIC)
The goal of this committee is to promote fair practices for adjunct faculty at SLCC so they can be effective contributors to student learning and an integral part of SLCC’s mission. This committee promotes a supportive, inclusive, and equitable professional environment that ensures adjunct faculty feel recognized as part of the SLCC community and are empowered to be dedicated and effective educators. The AFIC advocates for adjunct faculty and brings items to the attention of the Faculty Senate and Faculty Association as needed.
Membership:

- At least three at-large faculty members selected from across the college.

- Appointment, Promotion, Academic Freedom, and Tenure Committee (APAFT)
This committee shall formulate policies and operational procedures related to faculty appointment, rank advancement, academic freedom and tenure as well as issues of due process and salary advancement. APAFT is charged to continually monitor institutional documents, policies, and procedures that affect the professional lives of faculty.

- Constitutional Review, Apportionment, and Organization Committee (CRAO)
This committee shall review, update, and preserve the integrity of the Constitution and the Bylaws of the Salt Lake Community College Faculty Senate. The committee members shall study ratios of school representation on the Senate and recommend procedures for electing its members.
Membership:

- At least three faculty members, one of which will be a current Senator
- Curriculum Committee
This standing committee shall study and evaluate the curriculum needs of the college, provide recommendations for new programs, revise existing ones, and consider specific proposals of instructional departments or individual faculty members. The following members will make up this committee:
Membership
- Chairperson selected by the curriculum committee subject to the approval by senate. (member of the Faculty Senate as a senator at-large and represents the interests of the curriculum committee)

- Dean of Each Academic School (represents his/her School Curriculum Committee)
- Two Representatives from Student Services (voting) – one representative from Student Planning &Support and one from Student Enrollment Services)
- Faculty Representatives from each Academic Department or Division reporting directly to the Dean (also a member of the appropriate School Curriculum Committee; represents his/her Department or Division).
- Additional faculty members as needed and as approved by the Senate.
- Chair of the General Education Committee (voting)
- Chair of Technical Analysis Committee (voting)
- One administrator for General Studies, a voting member (Assistant Provost of Learning Advancement) (non-voting)
- Student representative designated by the Student Senate (non-voting)
- Support staff (non-voting including representatives from the Curriculum and Articulation office
- Director, Library Services or designee (non-voting)
- Administrative assistant to support the Senate Curriculum Committee and take minutes of the committee meetings (non-voting)
- Visitors (non-voting) as invited by committee members to inform the committee on specific issues
- Chairperson selected by the curriculum committee subject to the approval by senate. (member of the Faculty Senate as a senator at-large and represents the interests of the curriculum committee)
- General Education Committee
The General Education Committee is charged with the responsibility to oversee general education, including:
- reviewing proposals from the departments for new courses or new designations;
- reviewing the curriculum of existing general education courses, with twenty percent of existing courses being reviewed each year;
- establishing criteria for general education through a shared governance effort, and seeing that the integrity of those criteria is maintained throughout the general education curriculum, with any exceptions being review and approved by the General Education Committee;
- establishing the framework for general education and general requirements for the A.A., A.S., and A.A.S. degrees;
- other duties as delegated by the Curriculum Committee or by the Faculty Senate.
- Learning and Educational Technology Committee (eLET)
This standing committee will be the point of contact for eLearning technology matters that affect faculty. The committee will have at least one contact representative from each School. The committee will work with Faculty Senate and the eLearning department to ensure that faculty interests are represented on a wide variety of initiatives, questions, and issues related to eLearning. Additionally, the committee will work with the eLearning Online Advisory Board to ensure adequate faculty representation and input regarding technological matters affecting them. The committee will prepare a report for Faculty Senate by the end of each spring semester.

This committee shall monitor, revise, and recommend policies and operational procedures for faculty professional activities. In addition, address full- and part-time faculty professional development activities and support the Teaching Excellence and Exemplary Faculty Service Awards and Sabbatical Application Review annually.
Membership:
- Chairperson from Faculty Senate.
- Chair will also serve on Faculty Senate Leadership (FSL)
- Chair or (designees) will also serve on the Faculty Development Center Advisory Board
- A Minimum of 3 Faculty Members (at least one faculty member from each school is encouraged)
- The Director of Faculty Development (or designee)
- Community, Advocacy, Policy, and Education (CAPE)
The Community, Advocacy, Policy, and Education Committee has a transformative approach that increases awareness, validates multivocality, and fosters collaboration and engagement across the campus community. Our work includes professional development, curriculum and course design recommendations, and policy resolutions regarding governance, workplace culture, and student support. We collaborate within a synergistic framework of like-minded entities across campus through our membership in EDICT, the Equity Diversity Inclusivity Council for Transformation facilitated by the Chief Diversity Office.

- Standards, Student Affairs, and Admissions Committee (SSAA)
This committee shall be concerned with standards for student admission, retention, graduation from the college, and policies pertaining to student affairs. SSAA serves as a vital conduit for information to flow from students affairs to the Senate and provide a faculty voice in matters that affect SLCC students.

- An SSAA faculty committee member will also serve on the Student Access Council. This person will provide faculty perspectives on both committees and ensure effective communication between Faculty Senate and Student Services.
- Other attendees invited by the committee on an as needed basis
