New Faculty Cohort Program
The Faculty Teaching & Learning Center offers a New Faculty Cohort Program developed in partnership with the Provost’s Office. The purpose of the program is to build community, deepen faculty engagement, discuss student and faculty resources, and create a supportive and welcoming environment during faculty's first years at SLCC. This program includes new faculty orientation as well as monthly workshops throughout the year covering a range of relevant topics.
New Faculty Cohort Program Goals
- Goal #1: Build community, deepen faculty engagement, and promote a sense of belonging
- Goal #2: Help faculty navigate college structures and policies, student services, and professional development opportunities
- Goal #3: Support faculty in developing effective teaching practices
- Goal #4: Create an inclusive and welcoming environment for new faculty
Monthly Workshops
We will continue the cohort model throughout new faculty’s first year with monthly meetings on Friday mornings, 10 am – 12 pm, in the Professional Development Center, TB 225D-A, Taylorsville Campus. Meetings are designed to be a space for community-building, support, and professional development where new faculty can ask questions, share their experiences, and learn more about SLCC. Topics in these professional development sessions include presentations from campus partners in Student Services and MySuccess, information about the rank & tenure process at SLCC, guidance on using the Faculty Dashboard, and many other topics.
Please register for these events by logging-in to NEOED using your SLCC credentials. Your email address is your username. Need help registering for training? Check out this quick-start video to get started.
