Curriculum

The goal of SLCC’s curriculum process is to design educational experiences for students that will engage, enrich, empower, and prepare them to continue to learn and contribute as productive members of society. Faculty are at the heart of curriculum development: “Curricula and graduation standards at Salt Lake Community College shall be developed and implemented with significant and meaningful involvement of SLCC faculty, whose role is central, both as individuals and through their departments and representative bodies” (SLCC Policy 4.2.10). Curricular decisions also impact and are shaped by other stakeholders, including SLCC staff, employers, transfer institutions, and community members. In addition, the implementation of curricula involves institutional and community resources that can include time, facilities, finances, equipment, and personnel.

The SLCC curriculum development process is a continual cycle of design, assessment, and refinement and should be considered a nonlinear process.
