ACUE Courses
Courses sponsored by the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) are year-long, asynchronous professional development opportunities facilitated by Faculty Development & Transformational Educational Initiatives (FDTEI) and SLCC Faculty Fellows. We offer one ACUE course for face-to-face teaching and one ACUE course for online teaching. The courses "prepare college instructors to use the research-based techniques shown to help students succeed." The courses address essential teaching skills and knowledge in five units of study:
- Designing an Effective Course and Class
- Establishing a Productive Learning Environment
- Using Active Learning Techniques
- Promoting Higher Order Thinking
- Assessing to Inform Instruction and Promote Learning
FDTEI coordinates with the Provost’s Office and Academic Departments to invite faculty to participate. Faculty receive a three-credit course release or overload pay both Fall & Spring semesters during the academic year they are enrolled in the ACUE course. Faculty who successfully complete the course receive a certificate sponsored by ACUE and the American Council of Education.
